20 March 2010 Hello, and thanks for your help in translating LiVES ! The LiVES interface is carefully constructed to present the most important information to users. Some of the labels in the interface have a maximum length, and if this is exceeded, some interface controls will be hidden from the users. Here are a few simple tests to ensure that end users are able to access all functionality. Please run through these tests with the translated version of LiVES, and make any changes as needed, even if it means changing somebody else's translation. Don't wait for them to do it. 1) Start up LiVES in Clip Edit mode, or if in multitrack mode, press ctrl-e. At the top right of the screen, in the menu bar, there should be 8 buttons. If you see fewer than 8 buttons, or if the gui moves left and right when you click on it, please try to shorten or abbreviate the menu bar entries to the left. The key accelerators (_) do not need to match the English version. These labels are in gui.c _File _Edit _Play Effect_s _Tools _Audio _Info _Clips A_dvanced _VJ To_ys _Help 2) Go into multitrack mode (ctrl-m). At the top right you should see the following (in English) . Mouse mode: Move . Insert mode: Normal . Gravity: Normal If you do not see all of these menuitems, please shorten or abbreviate these items and the menu entries to the left. The key accelerators (_) do not need to match the English version. These labels are in multitrack.c _File _Edit _Play Effect_s _Tracks Se_lection _Tools _Render _View _Help 3) In multitrack, the info window on the right should be wide enough to show all the information. If text is being cut off at the right, please shorten the tab labels in the center window, e.g Parameters -> Params. These labels are in multitack.c Clips In/Out FX Stack Effects Transitions Compositors Params. 4) To the left of the timeline, you should see the labels: Video (layer 0) Video (layer 1) If the layer number is not clearly visible, please shorten the label so that the number is showing. These labels are in multitrack.c as: %s (layer %d) 5) The next test requires you to have at least one clip loaded. In multitrack mode, drag a clip to the timeline, then click on the "Effects" tab. Drag an effect onto the clip on the timeline. Right click on the block and select "List effects here". In the middle window you should see a stack of effects. Below this are 4 buttons. The labels on these four buttons may need to be abbreviated so that the info window to the right is still visible. Here is the English with abbreviations: Previous filter map _Prev filter map Insert before Insert _before Insert after Insert _after Next filter map _Next filter map These labels MUST be kept short. The key accelerators (_) do not need to match the English. The labels are in multitrack.c Thankyou again for your assistance, and have fun translating LiVES ! Please check this document again from time to time in case of new changes. Salsaman - main developer, project maintainer, LiVES - http://lives-video.com salsaman@gmail.com
